Lyda Borelli

Film and stage actress, born in La Spezia on 22 March 1887 and died in Rome on 2 June 1959.
She made her debut at fourteen with the Drammatica Compagnia Italiana. Two years later she joined the important Compagnia Drammatica Italiana Talli – Gramatica – Calabresi.
She was one of the first divas of silent cinema, embodying on screen the ideal of Liberty-style femininity, heightened by a lyrical use of gesture that quickly became emblematic of her acting style.
In 1918 she married Count Vittorio Cini and left the stage to devote herself to her family.
